What Is Tungsten Wire Basket?
Tungsten wire basket, also known as tungsten basket or tungsten wire evaporation basket, is a basket-shaped tungsten heating element used in vacuum deposition processes to hold and heat evaporation materials. It is made of multi-strand tungsten wire and formed through winding, weaving or spot welding into a stable structure with high strength and excellent thermal resistance.

How does a tungsten wire basket work? Evaporation materials such as aluminum or silver pellets or small pieces are loaded directly into the basket. When electrical current passes through the tungsten wire, heat is rapidly generated and the basket temperature rises. The materials then melt and vaporize. In a vacuum environment, the vapor expands and deposits onto the substrate surface to form a thin film. The basket structure confines the material, improving evaporation stability and enabling better control of evaporation rate and coating uniformity.
Tungsten wire baskets are widely used in vacuum thermal evaporation, optical coating, and electronic thin film deposition processes. They are particularly suitable for granular or small block evaporation materials. In applications requiring higher loading capacity or continuous operation, this structure provides stable performance and practical operational advantages.
